Chaa Creek Resort is located within the 400-acre Private Chaa Creek Nature Reserve, only a short drive from San Ignacio Town, Belize. Set along the banks of the Macal River and stretching towards the foothills of the Maya Mountains, the location is in the “Heartland of the Maya”.
HM Design led a team that prepared, an Overall Master Plan for the Chaa Creek Nature Reserve that contains over 70 Mayan ruins and a Site Plan for an existing ecolodge which in 2007, had been running for over 25 years. The client wanted to add more value to the land and increase the amenities, upgrade and diversify the accommodation experience. HM Design helped the client build a multi-disciplinary consultant team which included an Architect, Environmental Planner, Landscape Architects and Eco-Psychologist. HM Design produced in conjunction with consultants and staff members a ten year overall Master Plan which includes additions to the existing ecolodge as well as conservation areas. HM Design also prepared Schematic Architectural Drawings for high end ‘rental pool’ forest villas, a concept which was a first in Central America. The Overall Master Plan includes a forest ecolodge, destination wellness center, summer tented camp, nature interpretation center, conference center, wedding chapel, swimming pool, ‘rental pool’ villas, organic garden, horse and walking trails, canoeing etc.
