Lapa Rios Ecolodge

Ecolodge Design

Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica

Lapa Rios Ecolodge is located just south of Corcovado National Park, Osa Peninsula – SW Costa Rica. Set in a 1000-acre private rainforest reserve, the lodge overlooks the pristine Pacific Ocean.

HM Design led the team that prepared an overall sustainable master plan for a 1000-acre private Forest Reserve and Ecolodge which is a founding member of the National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World. The existing ecolodge had been operating for over 15 years and the client was looking to add more value to the property so that they could attract investors to buy the lodge. HM Design produced in conjunction with sub-consultant, Vida Design Studio and stakeholders, an Overall Master Plan which considered the total build-out on the whole property and included additions to the existing ecolodge as well as new products such as destination forest wellness center, luxury rental villas, nature interpretation center, conference center, beach club-house, wedding chapel, organic garden, walking trails etc. The HM Design published Sustainable Master Plan booklet was successful in soliciting an investor and the lodge was sold in 2019.
