Shalta Ecolodge

Al Ghat, Saudi Arabia.

Shalta Desert Ecolodge is located in the Al Ghat National Park, three hours north of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is set in a desert environment but with views of waterfalls (during rainy season) and greenery below.

Hitesh Mehta, President of HM Design was the facilitator and team leader for the preparation of Conceptual Master Site Plan and Architectural Floor Plans, Elevations etc. Hitesh facilitated a participatory ecolodge workshop comprising of local community, professionals and members of the Supreme Commission of Tourism and led the team that prepared the final plans. The program includes private accommodation areas, presidential suite, an environmental utility learning area, nature center and public spaces such as reception, lounge and dining. The mud wall climatic design of the neighboring villages of the region inspired the architecture of this Ecolodge.
