South Main St. Beautification

Hitesh Mehta was the assistant Designer for this project and prepared schematic and design development drawings. The South Main street redesign features mid-block crossings which create “mini-plazas” with extra plantings and custom designed street furniture to afford shoppers and office workers a place to rest and visit. Extensive urban design analysis and market testing had generated the concept of developing a multi-use complex in downtown Greenville as part of the city’s revitalization program. The beautification of South Main was part of this revitalization. Main Street has now become one of the most successful downtown streets for a small city in the United States.
