Ecolodge Design

Flinders Range National Park, South Australia

Wilpena Ecoresort is the only accommodation located within the Ikara Flinders Ranges National Park, 430km north of Adelaide, South Australia. The existing Resort lies adjacent to one of the most significant aboriginal landscapes (800 million years old) in Australia – Wilpena Pound.

HM Design was the Landscape Architect for the creation of an Overall Master Plan and prepared detailed site plans for unpowered and powered camping areas as well as the mid-end luxury tented camp. The master plan included new arrival experience, visitor center, new eco- accommodations, existing resort, cooking stations, restrooms, play areas, staff housing etc. HM Design also carried out research on aboriginal traditional architecture and collaborated with the Architect in the proposed designs for new contextual Camping Units. The Architect designed and built the First Phase project – Cooking Station in 2018.
