Chestnut Groves, Nairobi, Kenya (with Mehraz Ehsani)
Mr. Mehta was the Project Architect for a 10-unit town-housing complex (4 acres) that won the Architectural Association of Kenya design award. Hitesh surveyed and analyzed the site and designed the master site plan with special emphasis on the preservation of existing trees and shrubs. He also built all the study models and coordinated the design of floor plans, elevations, sections and working drawings. Chestnut Groves project aims to provide luxurious town houses (a first in Kenya) with amenities and modern conveniences found in very few housing projects in Kenya. This project was timely in that the growing needs and demands for such high quality accommodation had not been catered for previously in Nairobi (1986-1989).
